Maintaining a safe, compliant, and responsible work environment

Our Commitment to Jobsite Safety

At Directional Boring, safety isn’t just a policy — it’s a core value. We are fully committed to maintaining a safe, compliant, and responsible work environment for every team member, partner, and visitor on-site. Here’s how we put safety first:

Industry-Leading Safety Standards

We operate in full compliance with:

  • OSHA and other relevant safety regulations

  • Local and state construction codes

  • Site-specific safety plans developed in coordination with General Contractors and Owners

Our team undergoes continuous safety training to stay up to date with the latest standards and practices in industrial machining and mobile line boring environments.

Jobsite PPE: Always On

Because line boring often takes place in active construction or industrial zones, proper PPE is non-negotiable. Our personnel are always equipped with:

  • Hard hats, safety vests, and steel-toed boots

  • Cut-resistant gloves and eye protection, especially during grinding, welding, and machining

  • Hearing protection when operating boring bars, hydraulic equipment, or welders

  • Flame-resistant clothing when required for hot work

Safe Equipment Setup & Operation

We take extra care in safely transporting, setting up, and operating our mobile line boring equipment. This includes:

  • Securing all boring machines and power units before beginning work

  • Ensuring proper grounding of all welding and electrical equipment

  • Using machine guards and lockout/tagout procedures when performing maintenance

  • Following lift plans when hoisting heavy parts or boring tools into position

Fall Protection & Hazard Controls

When line boring must be performed on elevated platforms, heavy equipment, or in confined spaces:

  • We follow strict fall protection protocols, including harnesses and anchor points

  • Barricades, signage, and spotters are used to maintain safe work zones

  • Open holes and unguarded edges are secured immediately to prevent injuries

Routine Safety Meetings & Incident Reporting

  • Weekly tailgate safety meetings are conducted to review site-specific hazards and best practices.

  • All injuries, near misses, and safety incidents are reported within 24 hours, no exceptions.

  • Emergency contact info and first aid resources are posted clearly and accessible at all times.

Drug-Free Jobsite

Safety and focus are critical in line boring. We maintain a strict zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy. Employees are subject to post-incident and reasonable cause testing in line with our commitment to a sober and safe workplace.

Environmental Awareness

Line boring often involves metal shavings, lubricants, welding fumes, and other potentially hazardous byproducts. Our crews:

  • Contain and properly dispose of metal debris, oils, and used consumables

  • Use environmental spill kits and follow hazardous material handling guidelines

  • Avoid storm drain contamination and maintain a clean, orderly site

Accountability & Enforcement

All crew members and subcontractors are expected to follow safety protocols at all times. Failure to do so may result in:

  • Immediate removal from the jobsite

  • Withholding of payment for safety violations

  • Reporting of incidents to the General Contractor or Owner as required

We also ensure that all safety equipment issued is tracked, returned, and maintained in working condition.

Protecting people, projects, and reputations

Protecting People, Projects, and Reputations

Our approach to safety in line boring is proactive, not reactive. We don’t just meet safety expectations — we aim to exceed them. From heavy machinery alignment to field weld repairs, every detail matters, and every step we take is grounded in protecting what matters most: lives, equipment, and outcomes.
